About

I am a special education teacher in a gifted and talented charter school for students K-8. I specialize in working with kids who are twice exceptional: gifted and talented, but with learning disabilities, autism/aspergers, behavior disorders, or just different learning styles.  In the past, I’ve taught students with low cognitive abilities in an urban school. After school and over the summer, I tutor kids who need additional help in reading, writing and math. I also am the mother of five exceptional children and grandmother of two.

In this blog you will find my musings on teaching and learning with gifted kids, kids who have disabilities, twice exceptional kids, as well as “ordinary” kids.  I believe that most kids have some extraordinary gifts and some struggles as well.  I’ll also do book reviews of books for and about kids  who may be just a little different from average kids. I am always on the look-out for books to recommend to parents to read, to better understand their kids, and books that teach and entertain my students. I also watch for books that will instill excitement and passion for reading in all of us.

A Note to Authors/Publishers: I would be happy to read and review your book. If I you have a book that you would like to share with me, please contact me at diane (at) diane (dot) talbot (dot) com.
